StudyWorld: happiness in Brighton, excitement about Glasgow
Our first StudyWorld in Brighton for 20 years was fantastic, with some delegates calling it the “best ever”. Lisa James of Embassy Summer said: “It’s a good StudyWorld – the best one so far for me with the quality of the agents,” and Guilherme Ferriera said it was his “favourite StudyWorld so far.”
Meetings were productive from the start, with m2r Education and Britannia Education Services signing a deal in the first half an hour. The networking events were also popular, with Elac Study Vacations sponsoring the welcome reception to celebrate their 35th anniversary, and MLA hosting a networking reception at the world’s oldest aquarium, where delegates chatted, danced, and admired giant turtles and sharks.
Quality agents
StudyWorld agents are carefully screened to ensure they are the right fit for educators. Educator schedules this year reached an impressive 95% capacity. There was strong engagement across the event with agents arriving prepared and committed to attending meetings. Justin Quinn of the Centre of English Studies team commented: “It’s going very well. There is a nice vibe and really good quality agents are here.”
StudyWorld on tour
StudyWorld moved to London from Brighton in 2006, and first went on the road to Manchester last year, creating such a buzz we’ve chosen Scotland for 2027. Sarah Beesley of BEET said: “It’s hugely exciting to go to Glasgow and I love that StudyWorld is on tour, and it’s such a great opportunity for schools and agents. We are all very excited about it.”
Scottish educators are also excited. “It’s a really good chance and opportunity to showcase not just Glasgow but Scotland,” said Ricky Kemp, adding: “I am hoping to raise awareness of Scotland as a destination. There are so many international students, and we want agents to add us to their portfolio with confidence.”
UK world’s top study destination
More good news came in our pre-meeting seminars, when Anna Harris of VisitBritain revealed the influential Anholt Nation Brands Index now puts the UK in first place as the destination for study after years of consistently being second, with the challenge of making this a permanent advantage. We also heard from BONARD’s Ivana Bartosik, who said the UK was doing well for a mature market and there were opportunities for the industry.
