Visiting China

ENTRY INTO MAINLAND CHINA

British Passport holders require a visa to enter mainland China. You must apply for a visa prior to your travel. An official invitation letter can be issued by the Department for Business & Trade to those who require visas. Please request the letter of invitation template from the DBT, via English UK, as early as possible.

Please note that from 1 November 2018 Chinese Visa Application Centres capture all applicants’ fingerprints on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the UK in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations. Applicants applying for Chinese visas are required to submit the application in person to have their fingerprints and photo taken at the Visa Application Centres. Visitors to China whose fingerprints and photo do not match may be denied entry.

Further information about visas to mainland China and how to apply can be found on – www.visaforchina.org.

COVID-19 entry requirements

From 29 April 2023, China has changed its COVID-19 entry requirements for all travellers entering the country. You must undertake a lateral flow/rapid antigen test 48 hours before boarding your flight. You must declare your negative test result by filling in the Health Declaration Form via the China Customs website, or through the China Customs App or WeChat account. Airline officials will no longer check test results. However, upon arrival in China your test result may be checked by officials at customs.

ACCESSING WEBSITES BLOCKED CHINA

Under China’s policy of internet censorship, many popular websites are blocked in China. These include many social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, as well as search engines, news and productivity sites Google, New York Times, Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive.

To access these websites in China, you will need to download/install a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to your device(s) before travelling to China. VPN’s vary in cost and speed of access but include ExpressVPN and NordVPN. English UK does not recommend or endorse any VPN.

StudyWorld meetings

The majority of your meetings will be pre-scheduled ahead of the event, using industry-leading meeting technology, Marcom eSchedule PRO. There will also be additional opportunities to schedule meetings during the event.

Complete your event profile to explain your organisation’s services and objectives, then search the event database to decide who you want to meet.

Meeting scheduling and attendance at StudyWorld China Roadshow is more flexible than at other events. You will fully benefit from the event by making yourself available for last-minute meetings and adopting an agile attitude towards your schedule and who you will meet.

During the event, the StudyWorld and BONARD teams will be on hand to help you manage your schedule.

Marcom eSchedule PRO will go live Tuesday 31 October; you will be sent an email from Marcom Connect containing your username and password. If you are a new Marcom eSchedule PRO user, click on the “Getting Started” link which can be found above the menu bar when you are logged on to your account.
