Seminars

StudyWorld seminars are a great opportunity to learn more about the UK international education sector and to connect with colleagues in an informal, informative setting.

Seminars will take place on Monday from 15:45 – 18:00 in the Ambassador Room at Doubletree Brighton.

They are open to everyone and we encourage everyone to attend.

15:45 – 16:15 Global ELT student mobility: a decade of change and what comes next with Ivana Bartosik, BONARD

This session explores how global English language student flows have evolved over the past decade, the key factors driving current demand, and what this means for the UK as one of the leading ELT destinations. The discussion will connect longer-term market transformation with practical insights to support more sustainable recruitment strategies.

16:20 – 16:40 Inbound tourism, future outlook and perceptions of Britain with Anna Harris, VisitBritain

This session will cover the latest UK inbound tourism performance, forecasts and insights. Anna will present the most recent inbound tourism performance and highlighting the forecasted growth opportunity markets.

16:45 – 17:10 Student recruitment: how English UK lobbying and Accreditation UK rules will bring changes with Huan Japes, Naadiya Rawat and Sue Young, English UK

English UK launched its latest position paper in May 2025 with six campaigning objectives, including an EU youth mobility scheme, ID card travel and Erasmus-style exchange programmes. Eight months on, the English UK public affairs team offers you a progress update: what have we achieved of our campaign objectives and what are our remaining priorities for 2026.

We will also highlight some recent changes to the Accreditation UK criteria and guidance and what these mean for inspections.

17:20 – 18:00 Beyond the booking: building student excitement and connection pre-arrival with Jackie Kassteen, Jackfruit Marketing

Securing a student’s enrolment is only the beginning.  The time between a student confirming their place and arriving in the UK can be decisive in shaping their experience. Done well, pre-arrival engagement can transform uncertainty into excitement, help to manage expectations, and create a strong foundation for long-term satisfaction. In this session, we’ll explore how schools and agents can work together to deliver consistent, meaningful communication that both reassures and inspires. We’ll look at how to share responsibility in the pre-arrival stage, how to identify gaps in communication, and how to design touchpoints that spark curiosity and build a genuine connection. Attendees will leave with fresh ideas to ensure students arrive not only informed—but motivated, confident, and ready to thrive.
