International Student Champion Lord Bilimoria To Speak At Welcome Reception

International student champion Lord Bilimoria to speak at welcome reception

One of the highlights of StudyWorld is the welcome reception, where we get everyone together for networking before starting two full days of meetings.

This year, we are delighted to welcome back international student champion Lord Karan Bilimoria who will speak at the welcome reception, which is sponsored by IELTS.

He was keen to return because he enjoyed the 2017 event so much. This is likely to be popular with delegates who enjoyed both his welcome reception speech and an impromptu one he delivered during appointment sessions the following day.

Lord Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer and President of the UK Council for International Student Affairs, is passionate about the value of international education. He believes the UK should do much more to be a top destination for students from around the world.

“Events like StudyWorld are the champions of international education that the UK needs. And evidence shows that the time has come for the UK government to adopt a different approach to international students. Our universities and international students are one of the strongest elements of Britain’s phenomenal soft power,” he told us, adding:

“The UK has world-leading universities that attract students from across the world. I myself am the third generation of my family to be born in India and study in the UK. It is thanks to the UK’s position as a global destination for talent that the UK, with under one per cent of the world’s population, can be one of the world’s top five largest economies.”

StudyWorld is a truly international event that connects agents, buyers and partners from across the globe with the UK education providers who can meet their needs.

This year is StudyWorld’s 50th year running and we are excited to have received a record number of agent applications. We target key agents from key growth markets for UK education, using exceptional data available to English UK. And, with demand so high in 2019, we have implemented strict quotas to ensure all key markets are well represented at StudyWorld 50.

Don’t miss the chance to celebrate, do business and spark new ideas with us from Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 September 2019 at the QEII Centre in Westminster.
