Make sure you don't miss out on StudyWorld's essential seminars
"We've just finalised the programme, and we're really pleased with it. We've arranged some great sessions which will interest both agents and educators," said Siobhan Baccas, International Events Manager.
A highlight of the afternoon, which opens the event on 5 September, should be the keynote presentation by Mike Southon called Sales on a Beermat, which promises to divulge the simple steps any company can take to double sales immediately, without the use of expensive marketing campaigns.
The session is based on a best-selling book written by Mike, who has created and sold his own company, worked on 17 different start-ups and is now a leading entrepreneur mentor and business speaker. He is also very funny, as he proved with a presentation linking business with The Beatles which he gave to the English UK marketing conference in January.
The other keynote presentation is an update from the UK Border Agency on student visa regulations and is an essential catch-up for anyone involved in the international student sector.
Later in the afternoon, Rekha Husbands of DavidsonMorrison Solicitors will explain exactly what systems UK educational institutions should have in place in order to stay within the law when recruiting and accepting international students. She will be answering questions at the end of her session.
Alternatively, agents will be particularly interested in the session from Jodie Gray, English UK’s International Marketing Manager, who is going to talk about the highly-successful Partner Agency Scheme as well as other services we offer to agents.
Delegates also have the choice of two other sessions, both of which are of real interest to businesses. Planning for the future using strategy and scenario tools is likely to be really useful in the changing world of international education. Speaker Caroline Moore will show delegates how to analyse and make sense of the different forces which will help shape the future, and how to understand their implications in the ELT sector. This will be a practical workshop, and participants will try out one of the main approaches for themselves.
Alternatively, delegates can choose a session which will help them to understand other people’s behaviour and use this knowledge personally and at work. Speaker Helen Mattacott has intimate knowledge of the ELT sector and is director of Beacon Peninsula, a company which focuses on business coaching and management consultancy.
