My time so far in London and at English UK...
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Verena and I am the International Events Assistant in the StudyWorld team. As you may have read in the previous blog, I am currently doing my internship at English UK. I have been in London for about one and a half months and my life has completely changed.
I arrived in London in the end of February on a very cold day at the weekend. What I didn’t know then was that each weekend several tube lines are closed due to engineering works. London is a very big city, and as I come from a very small village in the eastern part of Austria (close to Vienna) it should have been quite difficult to get used to it. But the total opposite was the case - everything was routine within only one week! Commuting via tube, dealing with masses of people during the rush hour and an amazing range of different cultures were among my first impressing experiences.
Now I can feel nature directly in the city. Signs of spring are almost everywhere. To go from having trees and fields around me to living in a city that never sleeps needs a bit of adaptation. But it’s nice and I am going to walk around some beautiful areas, like St. James’s Park and Hyde Park to enjoy my first really sunny days here.
During my first few days at English UK Siobhán introduced me to my duties for the development of StudyWorld London 2010. Among my scope of tasks is the dealing with agent enquiries and bookings. Therefore I would like to remind all you agents that the deadline for early bird bookings will end on 7 May. There is still one month to go, but as you know, time passes by quickly.
So that’s everything from my side for now. I am just happy to be here, dealing with your requests and I hope to see even more of you in September!
Verena
