University of the Arts London Language Centre, Short Courses and Study Abroad

At StudyWorld 2016, there will be representatives from the Language Centre and Short Courses departments so you can find out about our range of English language courses and short courses in art, design, fashion, communication and performance.

University of the Arts London (UAL) was recently ranked in the world’s top 5 art & design universities. It is a collective of six outstanding colleges:

Camberwell College of Art
Chelsea College of Art
Central Saint Martins
London College of Communication
London College of Fashion
Wimbledon College of Art

Language Centre
UAL’s Language Centre offers year-round General and Academic English, and English Plus courses to students over 16 years old at the University’s headquarters in Holborn, central London. English Plus courses combine English Language with practical art, design, fashion and communication subjects taught at our Colleges. These courses are ideal for students who want to improve their English language while also gaining knowledge and experience in the creative arts.

With access to University facilities across all 6 colleges, Language Centre students get to experience University life, even if they study for just a few weeks. In 2014, the EL Gazette (English Language Gazette) ranked UAL’s Language Centre number one in London (based on British Council inspection results).
The Language Centre also runs a residential summer course in English Plus Art & Design or Fashion for Young Creatives (13 – 16 year olds), in the east of England.

Short Courses and Study Abroad
UAL’s Short Course and Study Abroad programmes have been welcoming large numbers of international students for over 25 years.

Short courses at UAL are designed for people who want to develop new skills while staying in London. Many students will take a short course to build a portfolio or to try-out study before beginning a degree. We also offer courses designed for professionals who want to move up the career ladder.

Study Abroad programmes at UAL give overseas undergraduates the opportunity to deepen academic study and earn credit. Students can join UAL for up to 3 terms on an integrated programme, 14 weeks on a semester programme, or 3 to 8 weeks in the summer.

For Short Course students, university accommodation is available during the summer. Outside of summer we can refer students to private or homestay accommodation.  Student housing is guaranteed for Study Abroad students and the Language Centre will book homestay or house share for students studying there.
