Our history

StudyWorld was established in 1969, and since then it has become a world-leading international recruitment event that has expanded beyond language study to take in the full range of education providers including international universities and colleges.

1969: StudyWorld was established over forty years ago. For its first 22 years, it was known as the English Language Schools Workshop and organised by the British Tourist Authority (now VisitBritain).

1991: The Association of Recognised English Language Services (ARELS) took over responsibility for the event, and it was renamed the International Languages and Education UK Fair. Between 1991 and 2006, the fair was held in Brighton on England’s south coast.

2004: ARELS merged with the British Association of State English Language Teaching (BASELT) to form English UK, and English UK took over the management of the event.

2007: The StudyWorld name was launched, and the event moved to London.

2009: Event celebrated 40 years of quality, education and international partnerships.
